History of ABUS

ABUS is a German company and has been manufacturing security-based products since 1924. For more then 85 years ABUS has been manufacturing security-based products at three different locations across Germany,

To celebrate their 25^th anniversary in 1949, ABUS produced their first diskus padlock which is still produced today in the similar design, but with state-of-the-art technology.

In 1958 ABUS was the first company to introduce brass padlocks to the market.

In 1961 ABUS started manufacturing door cylinders.

In 1971 ABUS produced the very first high U-lock which became know around the world as the bicycle U-lock.

In 2008 ABUS became the world’s first provider of a danger detection system called “Secvest 2WAY ABUS”.
